Introduction to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
For employees of Alta Bates Summit Medical Center
4-week series offered bimonthly through the Sutter Health Partners Wellness Program
Are you stressed and wondering how to deal with it? Research has shown that mindfulness can help reduce not only stress, but also depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program, developed at Massachussetts General Hospital in the 1980s, has helped thousands of people live happier, healthier lives. In this introductory class, Sutter employees can learn mindfulness techniques in a supportive small group setting. Participants will learn skills to reduce stress at work and at home, including gentle movement, awareness of breathing, and mindfulness meditation. Workbook & CD included.
Current and former students are also welcome to attend a daylong mindfulness workshop on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at no charge.
